Back in 1985 while in the army in Europe, I was willing to race my German Opel Manta S (2 litre, 1954cc) against a 1984 Trans Am. It wouldn't have been a drag race. I wanted to race down a long winding ridge and back to the top (2 hairpins each way, lots of curves and straightaways, close to an 800 foot elevation difference top to bottom, about 6 miles both ways). The sergeant who had the Trans Am had been talking a lot of crap about his car until I challenged him about it. We never did race, but those of us in our tank company didn't have to hear how he had the best unbeatable street car in the entire known universe anymore, either. Go OPEL! :)
